Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome back to Young Leaders Elementary School!  Last year proved to be a productive and exciting year.  Thank you for your continued support. My staff and I are committed to providing our students with an excellent education.  We value your partnership and certainly do not take for granted the opportunities we have to learn from you, our families, to enrich the lives of our students.  To Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe are the cornerstones of what makes Young Leader Elementary School a special place to learn, play, and grow.  We pride ourselves on being a school community that fosters a strong sense of self and community, where everyone is valued, appreciated, and embraced.  Here at Young Leaders Elementary School we strive to develop leaders!
Cultivating student leadership and independence is very important here.  When you visit, ask about our community service initiative.  We would love to tell you about all the wonderful things our workers are doing for our school community.  In our effort to provide all students with a comprehensive educational experience, we remain committed to continuing our enriching programs such as: Theatre, Art, Golf, Basketball, and Chess Club. This year, we are adding swimming to the menu! We have many new and exciting initiatives that support our students in developing into safe, respectful and responsible citizens.  This year we launched Community Circle to accompany our PBIS curriculum. We are also proud to announce that we have a new Music and STEM program, so we can wait to see you at our music concerts and STEM fair! As we continue to support our students in meeting the demands of the Common Core Learning Standards, we will continue our partnership with Columbia Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project for literacy and Go-Math for rigorous math instruction.  We are also excited to have fun additions such as “Math Trivia” and “Book of the Month” to encourage our children to be their best.
Thank you for your continued partnership. We look forward to a year of hard work, studying, and volunteering at Young Leaders Elementary.  Together we can provide a great elementary experience for all our YLE leaders!
See You Soon,
Jaleelah Cooke
